The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy is an active member of the Mainz Research Center for Mental Health (MZPG), which bundles research activities in the field of mental disorders at the Psychiatric, Psychosomatic, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Departments of the University Medical Center and the Institute of Psychology at the University of Mainz.

Our Department is an active member of the Focus Program Translational Neurosciences (FTN) and ReALity - Resilience, Adaptation and Longevity at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and is also a member of the rhine main neuroscience network (rmn2), a research network between the universities of Mainz, Frankfurt, and Darmstadt and several other research institutions in the Rhine-Main-area.

Furthermore, our research is also supported by private foundations. This is particularly the case in the field of dementia research. The Alfons Geib Foundation for the Study of Alzheimer's Dementia provides a valuable contribution to support both patient-oriented research and basic research in this field (more about foundations of university medicine: https://www.unimedizin-mainz.de/ueber-uns/stiftung-universitaetsmedizin.html.)
