Dear visitors, welcome to the website of the Study Center for Clinical Trials in Mental Disorders!

The Study Center for Clinical Trials in mental disorders (Studienzentrum Psychische Erkrankungen, SPE) is a Research platform of the Mainz Research Center for Mental Health (Mainzer Forschungszentrum für Psychische Gesundheit, MZPG) and was established in 2007 as part of the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Trials (Interdisziplinäres Zentrum für Klinische Studien, IZKS) of the Mainz University Medical Center. As one out of six clinical study centers, the IZKS has been funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung BMBF) and aims at promoting patient-related research at German universities. The IZKS supports all kinds of mono- und multicenter studies from the very set-up of study units within clinical departments, over data management, up to connecting study networks. It provides training for study staff and offers advice regarding study conception, methodology and conduction.

The SPE is a multidisciplinary pool of personal and infrastructural research resources of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy with the Department for Medical Psychology and Medical Sociology, the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the Mainz University Medical Center as well as the Department of Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology at the University of Mainz. It covers phase II-IV industry-sponsored pharmaceutical studies as well as investigator-initiated trials (IITs) with a special focus on psychotherapy studies. The SPE ensures that all studies are carried out in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and safeguards that the ICH-GCP guidelines and ethical standards are adhered to. Currently, numerous studies covering a wide array of mental disorders are conducted at the SPE, and this website provides an overview of the projects we are currently working on.
